Flex Wheeler – GENETICS X WORK ETHIC – Bodybuilding Motivation

Everything gotta be on point, not just your upperbody it gotta match It has to flow so you have to have the right matches It's rough and it doesn't happen overnight It's a lot a lot A LOT of hard work and dedication and perseverance I think we all can acknowledge it's not producing champions of our era I don't wanna be one of those guys and say our era was the greatest era of our sport But I tell you this it was probably one of the most competitive with the most incredible and outrageous physiques that ever walked the stage One of the hardest things is being really honest with yourself Whether you choose to run from a fight or to the fight Because I knew it was gonna be extremely challenging There is no way for me to fully know until I get into the workout Once I got into the workout it was purely a mental battle Of willing to go into that pain In my opinion still to this day that was the best physique EVER graced ANY stage in bodybuilding I always try to create my world as this harsh environment mentally I could go through all kind of hell and train my ass off, I can diet I created this outer world where this is normal To be unhappy, eating this crapfood, going into the gym, training every day This is normal Those people out there don't get it I'M BUILD FOR THIS I was very comfortable in that world and I knew I did my BEST

How to Eat Like a Bodybuilder | Lee Haney | Dieting Tips from 8x Undefeated Mr. Olympia

you can't train like a horse and eat like a bird so that made sense it has kept body fat under control you're able to watch it see the quality of muscle growth which was slower but at the same time you didn't have to eat green beans and tuna fish in order to get cut for a show mr haney many people are here to have a look at you can you tell us something about your training in bodybuilding well first of all my training it consists of training at least six to seven days a week sometimes I trained twice a day and I spend roughly three and a half up to four hours in the gym that's twice a day to two hours in the morning and maybe two hours and afternoon what about your food my food is basically this well rounded meals that consists of quality protein will come from things like chicken eggs fish lentils was used some but for the most part it was those particular type of proteins that was used I did use a lot of powdered protein drinks not a lot of them I would some in the off season but it was mostly food then it was carbohydrates of sweet potatoes was at the top you know beta carotene also high fiber low glycemic index is the perfect energy food and then anabolic properties of sweet potatoes and any type of roots was very very good in highly recommended then as far as greens and veggies and that sort of thing I strongly believed in the use of spinach so I use a lot of spinach in my diet which is the perfect multi mineral complex so I used that and it also helped to cleanse the body you know all of that is important in water was this paramount and making sure we kept the system nice and clean and giving the body what it needed other things like pineapple the perfect anti-inflammatory for the joints I would do pineapples twice a day fresh pineapple I would also use things such as walnuts almonds in the diet which is very good I would take in as many as 15 you know 12-15 whole eggs a day you know training for competition in off seasons to develop size and off season as I got closer to a show I would do a mixture of maybe three egg whites and two whole eggs per meal I never believed in just taking egg yellows away because the fact of the matter is the egg yellow contains something called lecithin and choline which have their own fat burning properties let's see what haney looks like well he certainly looks big he looks hard he looks like he's ready this may very well be his fifth win Lee's symmetry looks in fact I think better than ever right now just standing there Lee looks like the winner 243 and a quarter pounds but I've tried to stay true to is making sure that quality nutrition were the part of my daily existence had relates to training for competition on season and offseason I never liked my nutrition to be such that I would end up being 30 20 pounds over my last competition weight so I wanted to make sure that whether I gained 5 10 15 or 20 pounds I was still able to see my abs you see it that's the that's the tale story of everything Abs if you got abs that mean your body fat is is within control if you don't then guess what we need to make some changes bodybuilding is judged mainly on the basis of comparison and experience judges usually need only one or two looks at the top contenders to make up their minds but this isn't what happened in Chicago the top five or six were called out over and over in different combinations they have this new school old school kind of a thing that they're talking about and I think because of the criteria of what's accepted and bodybuilding now sort of threw everything out of whack you know and might you know when I entered my competitions you're talking a 32 inch waist you know with a vacuum well that was no longer the norm once during Yeats came in after me it okay the vacuum went away the small waist went away it just became about mass so the mindset of the bodybuilders as of lately has been let's just get big and now let's try to Train down and get some definition and when doing so you have to go through all type of extremes to get rid of body fat in which you should have never put on in the first place whereby we watched every every ounce of quality as we develop our physique so we were never in a quick-fix situation quick fixes causes a lot of other things you know that really didn't have to happen you know crazy things they help get rid of fat which you should never put on this think about how that stuff wearing your adrenal system then you're doing 8 million miles of aerobics that wears on your system also and you're doing it to your joints because the body is only good for so many bumps in the road you can destroy a pair of shock absorbers by hitting bump bump bump where your knees your back your shoulders it works the same way so give the body what it needs and as you know and a lot of my sayings has been trained to stimulate not annihilate you have to annihilate when you do crazy stuff like get forty or fifty sixty pounds over competition weight then you have to try to bring the weight down in order to see how abs or to get in contest condition

How to Workout Like a Bodybuilder | Lee Haney | Training Tips from 8x Undefeated Mr. Olympia

classic physique is where I come from is where Arnold Robbie Frank Zane that is classic physique they say physique but it's really classic bodybuilding a lot of guys chasing me you know is the sport of bodybuilding has grown tremendously and so have the number of competitors so yes I do have a lot of added competition that Arnold didn't have to face during this era eight Mr Olympias where you gonna go beyond that I felt that was that was it for me but to win it eight years in a row at the age of 31 that was a miracle in itself it was a gift from God yes I had to work hard you just don't hand gifts out you have to go get it and I went and got it with all of my heart with that 8th Olmypia felt like I could finally exhale because when you're on the top there's nowhere to go but down and so you're always focusing on how do I stay here and you know I'm living and I lived you know I had two children while I was training for the mr Olympia stayed on top and was still reigning but there's there's a certain amount of pressure I had businesses going on you know there's a lot of stuff happening so that last Olympia I said what I needed to say and I was ready to bow out and say thank you come in close with me baby hey come on baby let's go the intensity I generally try to work towards preparing for the Olympia 12 months out of the year the intensity starts to increase about six months away from the show and then the final of 12 weeks is when I really start to pour it on because the body cannot withstand a great deal of punishment an entire 17 18 weeks so 12 weeks is very intense well it's a lot different now because I have younger bodybuilders that I meet at competitions and you know one of the things that I'm a sticker on is what are your wheels looking like you know you gotta have some legs listen I'm okay with physique and I love physique but I love a full package too you know that's that's how I grew up and that's where I am so I want to know that a guy actually have calves I want to know they have legs you know so one of the things that I see that's sort of off balance now is athletes don't give enough time to bring it about growth and muscle maturity in the different body parts they're now in a system where they would train one body part a week legs once a week calves once a week particularly calves you know and that's a biggie for me I never will forget when I first visit world's gym and you had Joe Gold there I mean Joe golds was like one of the godfathers of bodybuilding when he came to the gym world because he created worlds and golds gym his name was on both of them so I never will forget as I came in for the first time at Worlds in California ed Giuliano Eddie Giuliano was standing there and he said Joe come out the office and check out this this young kid and so he did in So Joe walked around the circling and watch me and said uh pull up your pants leg kid so I pulled my pants leg up and he looked he said you're going places he didn't give a crap about what he saw up top because everybody got something up top if you don't have wheels you don't make it in the sport of bodybuilding not in the sense of where I came from and the era prior to me so that's a very important deal and so I meet a lot of young athletes you know one of the things I actually I look and then I know it's a lot of them lack calves so I how many days do you be training calves one - two - one two - hey man we train our calves five to six days a week a calf is a stubborn muscle so how do we expect for it to respond you've been walking around on them since you were born so your calf is used to high endurance so in order to go beyond that you got to give us something very different you have to stimulate and nearly annihilate a calf in order for it to respond heavy hard consistent and then I look at the fact that a lot of the athletes are training you know one body part a workout it they have an arm day they have a chest day they got a back day said how ridiculous is that and what I see a lot is immature muscle that particular type of program is more designed for a power lifter the details for actual bodybuilder and so you can see it in a physique the cross striations and the muscle maturity is not here like it used to be so I spend a lot of time rewriting and fixing programs for the younger generation of body builders I'm definitely Pro classic physique classic physique is where I come from if we Arnold Robbie Frank Zane that is classic physique they say physique it is really classic bodybuilding that's what it is it's beautiful bodybuilders you have a vacuum you have a nice lines and yes you have the wheels you know so I see no difference in that I'm really have to see that element of bodybuilding make its way back because I felt that the physiques had sort of gotten out of hand you know what made bodybuilding beautiful was no longer beautiful and classic physique brings that back

Bodybuilding Motivation – YOU CAN’T TRAIN LIKE A BEAST AND EAT LIKE A BIRD

I don't eat for taste you know I just eat for fuel, that's it I eat to get big, I don't care what it tastes like Anything for calories, That's why I think I've been so succesful I've been very open-minded with my training and most importantly my diet Like I said before I think diet is 80-90% of being a profesional bodybuilder You can't train like a horse and eat like a bird This rice cooker runs 24/7 That pasta gave me A PUMP I keep myself in this STRIKING ZONE So then when I do start back, dieting And I start adding them meals in My bodyweight goes naturally back up But then I start cutting back down And I come in every single year RIGHT ON THE MONEY I'm talking ounces Let's just get BIG! No hamburger FISH You can't just get results overnight Alright so this is meal number 5 5'O Clock 4 more meals to go I put on two pounds since yesterday, so I'm on my way back up Start bumping up my fats a little bit My bodyweight is just starting to climb now I may lose a little condition but that's ok When I'm dieting for a show it's a very very strict lifestyle I mean I'm up at 5 in the morning I'm training twice a day And I'm basically sleeping and eating and TUNNEL VISIONED There's no world, and THAT'S IT That's how I have to be to get ready for these shows Here we are post-training HARD WORK PAYS OFF Because if I'm not eating If I'm not sleeping If I'm not doing the right thing Then I won't win

Art & John discuss bodybuilding at any age

hi I'm John Coleman the one of the cofounders of celebrating act 2 along with my partner Art Kirsch our curse one of the co-founders of wait a minute does that mean there's two co-founders uh co and co how does that work I'm always amazed yeah we were never really good at math so art I wanted to compliment you on discovering a mother-daughter team who are body builders and I thought this that when we interview them with fantastic people just and a great story how did you run into them so it's kind of remarkable I've been going oh you wouldn't necessarily know to look at me but I've been going to the gym pretty steadily five days a week for the last I'd say ten years for sure less frequently before then but if I'm there five six times a week and sometimes twice a day if I'm open in the afternoon and they run back and do some I've taken up whirling so I do some of that as well but along the way you see a lot of people over and over again who are what I refer to as by Jim rad friends share and they all have interesting backgrounds of doing various different things but you see so often it used to be just guys but probably in the last four or five years a lot of gals who are doing not so much for muscle mass but really what I think is very attractive Tony of particularly the upper arms fitness fitness yeah but beyond its beyond fitness and maybe it has to do with the extreme craze and things like that but they're really building strength and muscles muscles that you can see but not super bulging like the guys right there are a few that do but sure most of them that I've seen and they're just ordinary folks that's the interesting thing and maybe what they're doing cardio we're sitting in a pipe next to each other or from rolling we're at different machines again soon you begin to strike up a a conversation with them and they're like three or four there's a guy named Troy who is and it's been 30s he just it's amazing there's a young kid who just got it but that's how you met gala but that's how I met she's a nurse well she that's interesting she she was a nurse and I met her and when I met her I could see her struggling and she was in a lot of pain and she had been in an automobile accident which the video we just said to them she explains about this accident and yeah and but she was a pediatric nurse on her feet all the time and bad for your spine well if you if you've been hit by a car and flipped over a couple times and Lenser on your back and what told you back had to be fused yeah but she decided to take another approach because her mother had been there imports from South Africa about 10 or 15 maybe 20 years ago and so she decided that she would try to build up the strength rather than go through surgery because as a nurse she really didn't want to have to deal with that yeah yeah and she had a great success right well part of it was also that her mother she told me I had never met a mother a mother had had a similar injury when she was younger and she overcame it with bodybuilding and I say bodybuilding as opposed to just exercise yes so bodybuilding I know enough about it to know that what they do is they target certain muscles or groups of muscles and they try to build those up to build their strength for health purposes and other things a lot of benefits to bodybuilding and one of the things I liked about Galen and her mother Gail when they when we interviewed them was they explained that women really physiologically can't get as buff as the men Cantonment none of them ever began I become an Arnold Schwarzenegger or somebody like that but they do because they're building muscle underneath their skin they des affect this shape and so if you want to get in shape physically or fitness-wise bodybuilding is great a great way to do it but they had a wonderful story of working together yeah so beatings again so when Gailen overcame her back problems she decided that she was gonna follow on her mother's footsteps who's in mid 50s at the time maybe 57 and because she was so excited about having had such great results with her back through bodybuilding that she asked her mother look I'm going to go to a goal to be in a bodybuilding competition a fitness fitness competition and by the way both she and her mother had always believed in no steroids no banned drugs or anything where they were only going to do it all that natural in fact they joined an association that bans all those kind of supplements and it has to be all natural foods and things like that and they drug test them and they urine test them so that they make sure that they have no traces of damping in the system yeah so anyway she sent our mother you know I'm gonna do this in a year want to join me and I'm others are too old and been out of it for a long time oh really our mother had said no the chef said no and then about three or four months down the line Galen kept Eska and then she stopped asking her and then about five months on the line of mother said okay I'll join you and so they Galen who was now I think thirty four and a mom was 58 yeah and that was about a year ago when they agreed to start exercising together building bodybuilding together and go into the copper and when they funnel into the competition about two weeks ago you I mean even if you're just not a fan of that women they look so good and and in their interview really they would talk about all the interesting things about having to get spray tan for the competition and a couple days yeah it's interesting any and competition of course as its rules and regulations and everybody has and all the amount of money I have to spend of these but you say these teeny bits of cloth that they call a bathing suit they call bathing suit so so then they reviewed all that as well but it was really inspiring because they talked both of them talked about how they got interested in the muscle building to overcome problems that they have right health problem and that the mom now with three grown children was able to re-enter the this sport and I think she look I mean just amazing for sure a woman of that yeah of that age interesting there's another gal who is I think she's Filipino she may be Vietnamese but yeah she's also in the late fifties of the gym she'd even start bodybuilding till she was in late 40s and she just is one bundle of muscle she's about if she's 5 foot tall I'd be amazed yeah and there are a whole bunch of other people there who are not bulky body guys but just have amazing physique and they range from age 20 to 40 and there are a lot of gals who just they're just working the upper body so they have these great-looking shoulders and arms well people people go into bodybuilding for all kinds of reasons sometimes it is strength sometimes it's health reasons yeah sometimes it's as a sport you know to get that cut ripped look and sometimes it's for health to lose weight or something like that and these these both of these people were motivated by health reasons and if you go to our website and we have a series of about four videos that were releasing over the next week or so that they document their background and how they got into it the benefits that they have and to encourage anybody to go whatever level you want and they shouldn't be discouraged because they're 50 or 60 or 70 because they know people of all ages doing it even though Galen is younger hammam is a perfect example of somebody who you wouldn't think would be involved this is involved in this and I defy anybody to look at her toes she's not healthy so John when he hit the gym if I'm gonna meet Gayle in there this afternoon okay but go to go to celebrating act to calm take a look at those videos and I think you'll be inspired by these two women great mother and daughter starry-eyed subscribe but we really need you to subscribe subscribe to us or describe to us whatever you want to do and be in touch with us and if you're really inspired by them let us know and maybe we can arrange for you guys to meet them and take your your they don't they don't give lessons or anything but I'm sure they'd be very happy to to encourage anybody who's thinking about doing it and have all the reasons why they shouldn't do it and they'll say abs on that because they're living proof that they can do it so please subscribe to our Facebook page or web page or you-tube even subscribe to John alone I mean he's worked he's worth the subscription that easy to find me anyway hope to see you soon thanks for watching thanks a lot have a great day you
