Bodybuilding – Valuable At Any Age

I've been doing the sport for many years 40 years I'm actually my late fifties now and anybody can do the sport obviously we have different levels and I've always you know kind of kept myself in the sport so I have maintained a lot of my muscle size that have altered the years we've always trained extremely heavy as heavy as we could go we still go very heavy I don't go as heavy as I used to in my thirties that was probably when I was at my at my highest level of strength was in my 30s to late thirties I they are certain exercises that I don't do and I never one to you know I might come across as as kind of extreme I suppose I am in a way but I always tell people and I practices myself if something hurts stop doing it if you have an injury or you have some kind of you know issue physical issues work around it don't train through an injury or train through an issue that you have train around it stop sit back go and do something else especially for woman you know a postmenopausal this this sport is really good because you can go there as I said you're competing with yourself you're not competing with other people and you can do that too for me my biggest company competition is in my own head is what can I do today how am I going to be this week I'm tired you know we get up at five o'clock every day what can I do okay now it's through that exercise can I slowly reach that maximum amount rips and the amount of weight that I did two weeks ago you know you can go in there and you can push yourself push yourself to your own limits you know take yourself where you're comfortable and in push a little bit beyond that we don't like to be on the same level but again for woman postmenopausal to keep our bones strong to keep our posture good to keep ourselves active and healthy weight training is just it's for me to watch I will add with a medical background you know a lot of women does they don't realize that you know a lot of them like oh gosh I don't want to get buff you can't it's really difficult but what I will say is weight training and you know weight bearing exercises for women is so beneficial especially in the later years you know my mom is 58 now and and you know women even past that age what it does is when you break up those muscle fibers it forces your long bones to produce red blood cells which then go repair your muscle and what that's also doing is increasing your bone density now my mom and I are bone densities through the roof and it's because we work with heavy weights you know and everyone's got a different mindset of what heavy is what you know what heavy is to you and like my mom said you you get that point and then you can hit a little bit harder you know and no one's ever gonna go to the gym and you know work out really hard and be like wow I look terrible you know women always like I don't get buff you can't we've tried and that's why bodybuilding is such a cool sport because the older you get you know it's a sport where you improve with age because you built it takes your time to build up muscle yes you know so you build more muscle but you know as you as you age yeah

Placings have never bothered me So whether I finished ninth in a show or second or 15th in the Olympia I just enjoy competing and training mostly Whether I place 9th, second or win a show As long as I'm in my best shape I can do well Big shoulders, big arms, tiny waist, huge legs When I started bodybuilding that's what I thought bodybuilding should be And you have all these people saying well that's overdone You know you shouldn't look like that But yet those people who say that are the ones who normally can't achieve it so that's why they say it Now bodybuilding is a long term sport People wanna get into bodybuilding and they have been training 6 months, 8 months, nothing is happening What am I doing wrong? But bodybuilding takes years Stick with it you know Some years, some months you might not see anything change The weights might not change, but then you just keep persevering Next month it will probably kick off again It's one of the things just give it time and train hard It WILL happen but it just takes time What I do love of bodybuilding is just that freaky look about them where you can't really believe that I look human So that's what I wanna look like eventually If I wasn't getting paid to do this I would still do this because I love the sport, it's not the money that makes me do it If I'm gonna come dead last, as long as the crowd is happy well that's all I'm happy about The most freakiest bodybuilder I've ever seen in person was Lee Priest at the time He was like 20, bro And he was fkn INSANE BIG He was crazy big, I've never seen anything like that The guy couldn't even walk he was so big I was like this kid is basically my age UNBELIEVEABLY BIG I've never seen anything like that in my entire life

What Bodybuilders Eat for Dinner | Grilling with Johnnie O Jackson

Johnnie O Jackson here IFBB Pro welcome to my kitchen and today I'll be showing you and Muscle & Strength what I eat for dinner this is a normal dinner meal for me and almost any Texan man it's our norm so we'll be eating steak and potatoes you know that's the heart of every meal or every man here in Texas more or less you know don't quote me on that but it works here at my house you know normally for a potato it takes forever at least 45 minutes or so in the oven to prepare a potato but for today and the purposes of me and my eating and not having a whole lot of time to prepare a meal this is what I use this little pocket right here this thing is a lifesaver easy to pack so when it's Meal Time I go buy me a potato take out this bam ready to go the only thing you do is need some h2o we first wet the potato nice and vigorously and we wet the bag somewhat if you don't use moisture you know within the pouch and the potato the potato are dry totally dry out and ruin you know your meal so you put the potato in the pouch it's a microwave so I'm gonna actually put it in for I say eight minutes should be good and off the goes I want to put in there for about eight minutes and off it goes this is so clean easy you know and you know if you're not done your steak eight minutes you know you can tend to your steak while that's going on you know and then when it's done by time is done your steak is pretty much done because I usually do three or four minutes on each side for a steak so it finishes out just about correctly all right got the steak on just let it go yeah I did actually I had to go 12 my the 8 minutes the first time I felt it up it was still pretty hard so I put it back in for 4 more minutes perfect definitely this is where our getting the main source of fats is through my meats that I eat and that's another reason why red meat is very important because the fat content in the meat also we need fats we need carbs we need protein you know we need that fine balance of everything to keep this machine going correctly it's simple easy and there you go my normal dinner meal sirloin steak and potatoes

Bodybuilding Motivation – 2019 – TIME TO GROW STRONGER

The Evolution of Female Bodybuilding

You have to become your own entity There's nobody that takes more pride And more focus and concern about my career than me Controlling the training and competition aspect, It certainly makes my job a lot more pleasureable because I am my own manager, I am my own promoter, and I am my own marketer Train by myself, I like it that way Train by myself, rely on myself It gets hard and it definitely gets lonely especially when you train by yourself a lot If I have any advice for any of these new jacks that are coming up, Or maybe this is your first opportunity to compete in the Olympia Take control of your career None of us are believing that any of these people or obstacles can stop us from getting to the top They all have the 1 common threat going through them And that's the one that's running through me as well Is dedication, commitment to excellence And trying to be the BEST What makes my competition preperation even more rewarding when it's all over with whether it's second, fifth or whatever Is knowing that I did it all single-handedly and by myself Found the desire and drive to get out of bed when I didn't want to, train when I didn't feel like it, This is why I do what I do And I hope one day maybe my physique will represent the masses I'm here to fight, I'm ready to get it on What bodybuilding is all about Bodybuilding is about building muscle and building size, there's no question But to the exclusion of symmetry, proportion, definition, presentation Gotta FLEX the muscle Get all the fibers and detail to come in as I'm on my low carb diet right now Trying to come in at 210 And as you can tell from the bags in my eyes Haven't been getting much sleep Been putting too much into my training When you start breaking it down and analyzing bodybuilding for what it's supposed to be The shape, the symmetry, the genetics, the BALANCE The pleasing tone of the skin, the color of the skin, the tiance on the muscles That frustration for me turns into power It fuels each and every one of my workouts That's why every year, whether I take it on the chin or not I GET UP and I COME BACK My preperation was much more SPOT ON and the focus was more INTENSE My training this year has been nothing but focused My mindset is that of a warrior only having to deal with me makes it a little easier to get up in the morning and train When you analyze the whole picture, beat them on detail, beat them on completeness Beat them on profesionalism, so There are areas I can beat the champ under That I pay special attention to Because of the weaknesses I have standing next to them Planning on improving that this year LET'S ROCK On this lonely isolated journey to Mount Olympus It took a lot of distractions off the actual eating, training, the daily grind and what it takes to become a champion It gives me even more respect for a guy like Ronnie Coleman, Flex Wheeler, Lee Haney, Dorian Yates, Nasser El Sonbaty That they can maintain a professional bodybuilding career at this level Let's see what the finished product looks like I've never felt like I was already READY
