How it works
It shrinks the skin’s oil glands and cuts oil production, which removes the conditions acne bacteria need.
Half-life: about 20 hours.
Release profile
How levels rise and fall after a single dose, based on a half-life of about 20 hours. Each mark on the axis is one half-life; after about five, almost none is left.
An illustration from the half-life only; real levels vary with dose, food, how quickly it is absorbed and the person.
Clinical reference dose
Clinical reference: the label dose is 0.5–1 mg per kg of body weight a day, split into two doses with food, for about 15–20 weeks. Lower doses are often used for milder cases.
Tablets here are 20 mg each.
In Canada it is prescribed under a pregnancy-prevention program with monthly checks.
These are reference amounts from labels and clinical studies, not a personal recommendation. A doctor sets the right dose for you, using your bloodwork.
