Ingredients

Method

  1. Use a large microwave-safe bowl (at least 1 litre) because oats bubble up as they cook.

  2. Stir the oats, milk and cocoa powder together in the bowl until the cocoa is mixed in.

  3. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir, then microwave for 1 more minute until thick and creamy.

  4. Let the oatmeal stand for 1 minute to cool slightly; protein powder can turn grainy if added to boiling-hot oats.

  5. Stir in the protein powder until smooth. Add a splash of milk if it gets too thick.

  6. Top with the sliced banana and the peanut butter and eat warm.

Tips

  • Use a big bowl: oats bubble up in the microwave.

Swaps

  • Nut-free: sunflower seed butter.
  • Gluten-free: certified gluten-free oats.

Storing and reheating

Best fresh; dry ingredients can be pre-portioned in jars.
